In the present paper, the diameter of the flux of solar cosmic rays
capable of penetrating a polar cusp is evaluated on the basis of two
cusp models. Using a single-frequency approximation, it is shown that
the geomagnetic field in a cusp has a pronounced limiting effect on the
penetrating cosmic ray flux. The magnitude of this effect is evaluated.
