TV data from the Tiksi station indicate that cases of disoriented ray projections of active auroral coronas observed previously can be explained by the fact that the rays are spatially nonparallel due to the interaction between the fine structure of field-aligned currents and electric fields. The relationship between disoriented ray projections and Pi2 geomagnetic pulsations as well as explosive substorm phases is examined.
