A new physical mechanism contributing to the evolution of the semimajor axis of LAGEOS is described. The effect of free wobble and of forced precession of the spin axis of LAGEOS as far as the thermal thrust perturbation is concerned is discussed. It is found that the thermal thrust perturbation is mostly due to retroreflectors covering a large part of LAGEOS' surface.
