For motions allowing an approximation of the gravitational field by a central linear field, the equations of Mayer's variational problem for a point with a limited mass flow rate are shown to be reducible to an analytical solution. The case where the hodograph of the basis vector is an ellipse corresponding to an alternation of zero- and maximum-thrust segments is analyzed. The results are useful for the solution of the problem of the change in velocity of a point from local circular to elliptic in a central Newtonian force field.
