The most important results of studies of atmospheric-optical phenomena, conducted by the primary crew of the second expedition of the Salyut-6 orbiting laboratory spacecraft, are described. The spatial and transient characteristics of the radiation of the second emission layer on the night side of the earth during increased solar and magnetic activity are presented. The results of visual observations of the aurora borealis are analyzed. A suggestion is presented concerning the motion dynamics of noctilucent clouds.
