The calculations of M. A. Williams, L. W. Thomason, and D. M. Hunten
(1982) for the light transmitted to space by a Venus lightning flash by
dropping the use of similarity relations have been improved. This
revised model increases their escape fractions and image sizes by about
a factor of 2; however, their conclusions remain valid.
