A photometer designed for ground-based observations of molecular cloud emissions in the 300-1000 micron range is described. Detector optics of the photometer, tested with a 76-cm Cassegrain telescope, involve modulation of the incoming radiation by chopping of the Cassegrain secondary mirror; after reflection at the flat mirror the radiation passes through several long wavepass filters in a cryostat and is focused on a bolometer. The spectral response of the system, including calculated diffraction losses, is also discussed.
