A series of curvature and distance measurements were performed on the components and two assembled systems (focal ratios 7.5 and 13.5) of a 2-m Ritchey-Chretien telescope, and the actual characteristics of the telescope were then determined using a simple calculation procedure. The characteristics obtained are accurate enough to be used in designing the secondary mirror for other focal ratio combinations. A photograph of the Whirlpool galaxy M-51 taken with the 2-m telescope and a field flattener is presented.
