An analysis is given of the light curve of SS 433 in the three photometric bands V, B and U, as observed during the three years 1979-81 in the USA, Israel and Japan, together with some published data obtained in the USSR. A strong interference between the two basic periods of the system, 164- and 13-day, has been discovered. The erratic fluctuations of the star in relative units are probably modulated in the 164-day period, but not in the 13-day one. The average (over a period of about 1 day) B-V color index of the system is constant in time up to 0.1 mag, whereas the U-B index varies in the 13-day period. A few possible implications of some of the photometric characteristics are briefly discussed in the context of binary models for the system.
