Hydrodynamic equations of motion and continuity are used to examine steady isothermal plasma flow along the closed lines of force of the dipole magnetic field of the protonosphere. Velocity distributions and concentration gradients are obtained as functions of boundary values for continuous plasma flows, taking account of the gravitational field. The transition from continuous to discontinuous plasma flow is considered.
