A three-dimensional treatment of the structure of comet dust tails is undertaken within the framework of mechanical theory. Formulas are derived from the orbit mechanics of cometary particles. The discussion extends to: initial conditions and the force parameter, and orbit characteristics; a computer algorithm for calculating particle motion, some features of space distributions of vertical motion relative to the comet orbit plane, and neck-line tail structure (NLTS). A new method for numerical analysis of tail brightness on the basis of statistical tail brightness distribution data is developed. The approach is tested against the anomalous tail of the comet Arend/Roland, 1957 III.
