Results of long-term column ozone density measurements carried out in Norway and the USSR are presented. Analysis of data from Tromso and two meridian chains in the USSR indicate that no significant decreasing trend in ozone has occurred during the last two decades. It is inferred from the data that the increasing atmospheric load of CFC gases has played a negligible role in depleting the column ozone densities in the regions of Norway and the USSR where the measurements were conducted.
