An analysis is made of long-term (since 1935) measurements of the ozone layer thickness conducted at Tromso (69.6 deg N, 19.0 deg E). Although the annual mean value can vary by as much as 18 percent, the analysis demonstrates that no decrease of ozone layer at Tromso has occurred, even if the values of the last period, 1985-1989, are reduced by 2.41 percent due to a possible instrument shift. The measurements also indicate that the thickness of the ozone layer is not affected by the increasing amount of chlorofluorocarbon gases in the atmosphere.
