We investigate a way internal absorption can be used to explain the quite hard spectrum observed in some blazars. Starting from the blazar observations in the very high energy (VHE) regime, we continue with deabsorbing these spectra with current Extragalactic Background Light (EBL) models. Then, internal absorption is used to explain the X-ray (through the secondary emission) and γ-ray spectra of two distant blazars, 1ES 0229+200 (z=0.1396) and 3C 66A (z=0.444).
