Particular attention is given to plane null electromagnetic solutions, taking into account the three types of torsion solutions which are associated with this type of reinterpretation. Two of these solutions, the trivector and semisymmetric torsions, serve as examples of what could be done to find the associated torsions in terms of simple requirements on identities in U4. The third class is obtained by relating the contorsion to the Lanczos 'spin' tensor. Gravitational radiation is considered and the physical significance of the Lanczos tensor is discussed. Some consideration is given to theories concerned with simpler generalizations of U4 and the related types of torsion. A detailed investigation is conducted regarding the possibility that the Lanczos' 'spin' tensor of third order, discovered in the context of Riemannian space-time, could play the role of a special torsion tensor of this type in the context of U4.
