The present study considers the dynamo mechanism responsible for the solar activity cycle. It is proposed that the mechanism responsible for a flux density 10 times higher than B(eq) in the toroidal tubes is basically the same as that which amplifies the average magnetic flux density during the poloidal-to-toroidal conversion in an alpha-omega dynamo, namely, the differential rotation. The data available suggest that the toroidal flux tubes have magnetic fluxes of about 10 to the 14th Wb and flux densities of about 10 T. It is inferred that, contrary to some opinions, there are no fundamental objections to the existence of about 10 T toroidal flux tubes in the dynamo layer.
