Experimental studies of radio emission using a sophisticated data acquisition system at frequencies of 2 MHz (MF) and 9 MHz (HF) are presented. Results obtained on the variation of field strength with age parameter S for different primary energies E(P) and different core distance, on the lateral distribution of field strength for different E(P) and S, and on the frequency spectrum of the radio emission are analyzed in terms of the transition radiation mechanism.
