A method is considered for detecting Dirac magnetic monopoles by observing anomalies in the maser emission from interstellar atoms and molecules whose electron shells are disturbed by the monopoles. Possible effects of monopoles on the polarization and shape of the spectral lines characteristic of an interstellar OH maser are analyzed. It is shown that the most striking effect of monopoles that can easily be detected is a change in the polarization of the main maser line from circular to linear. The sensitivity of a monopole detector based on this effect is briefly discussed.
