Scientific paper

The paper studies the hybrid-frequency plasma waves excited in the ionosphere by a vertically downward propagating radio wave. The parametric excitation is considered for the radio wave reflection region, and the wave is circularly polarized in the plane orthogonal to the direction of the earth's magnetic field. Some inequalities for the description of the excitation region are obtained from expressions for the hybrid frequencies, and a dispersion equation is solved for the parametric excitation.
