The possibility of a large scale non-steady state interaction between
the solar wind and the local interstellar medium (LISM) is investigated.
Due to the non-uniqueness of the nonlinear steady-state solutions of the
balance and structure equations, regular or irregular oscillations with
time scales of the order of months and years may be expected.
