The effects of the radiation pressure exerted upon the HZ Herculis primary by its X-ray companion on energy transfer and thus the light curve of the close binary system are estimated by means of a perturbation method. Perturbation equations are derived from the modified equation of hydrostatic equilibrium in a plane parallel approximation with the contribution of radiation pressure taken into account, and used to determine the flux carried to the dark (nonilluminated by X-ray flux) side. Comparison of the expression obtained with that derived by Kippenhahn and Thomas (1979) for the case without radiation pressure reveals that radiation pressure leads to a slight increase in the flux carried to the dark side.
