The present investigation of geomagnetic response on a 24-hr scale to several well-identified quasi-stationary solar wing macrostructures over the 1965-1974 period groups the 60 high-speed solar wind streams originating in coronal holes into three classes, according to duration. For each class, the average 24-hr profiles of the interplanetary parameters and geomagnetic indices are obtained and evaluated for statistical reliability by means of a two-way variance analysis. The time-dependence of the geomagnetic index values on a single interplanetary parameter exhibits hysteresislike behavior due to the different stages of the geomagnetic perturbation development.
