Solar Activity, Wolf Numbers: Fine Structure
Scientific paper
The fine structure of the Wolf number index W of the solar activity is presented by three components: secular, 11-year cycle, and quasi-biennial. It is suggested that the quasi-biennial oscillations are the main features of the 11-year cycles. The attempt to simulate them by analytical functions is presented. The spectral properties of the whole W values time-series are discussed. A conception of the Sun as a magnetic variable star is suggested.
