The lightning hypothesis for Saturn's electrostatic discharges is
discussed from the point of view of terrestrial lightning energetics.
The total energy of a Saturnian lightning source is inferred to be about
1013J; however, some SED characteristics are not consistent
with a terrestrial-like lightning source.
