The rotation modulation of the emission measure of the Ca+K line within the integrated solar light is used to determine the solar rotation period. Changes of this period due to the differential rotation and the different latitude regions of the activity were assessed. Model calculations based on the results of the reductions of spectroheliograms were performed to demonstrate the possibility of a determination of period changes. Solar data do not show a systematic change of the period of the emission measure within the solar cycle. Perhaps there is no such change due to the large extension of the plages in latitude and their wide scatter in area, intensity, etc., or perhaps the data are not sufficient: the periods used are too short and the photographic data are too uncertain (even photoelectric data may be too uncertain).
