A theoretical analysis is made of the chirp-ionosonde signal structure for the one- and two-hop propagation in a randomly inhomogeneous ionosphere. For the two-hop propagation, the influence of an additional wave scattering from ground roughnesses is taken into account. A numerical simulation showed that random ionospheric irregularities and ground roughnesses play a significant role in signal structure formation. Numerical simulation results are compared with experimental data obtained for the oblique-incidence ionospheric sounding path.
