After demonstrating the global existence of classical solutions of the
Vlasov-Poisson system, current growth estimates are improved. It is
shown, by combining a new method of Schaeffer with new arguments, that
the velocities of particles as different as stars or ions described by
these equations asymptotically grow as O(t log exp 11/14 t) in time.
