An f-value for the Hg II line 3984 Å seen in Mn stars is derived from published laboratory and theoretical data. This value (loggf = -1.73 ± 0.20) is in agreement with previous "astrophysical" determinations for stars in which Hg I 4358 Å is visible. The implications of this agreement are discussed with reference to diffusion models proposed by Michaud and collaborators.
Absolute f-values for the ultraviolet Hg II resonance lines are also derived.
