The hypothesis that the moon might have once possessed an atmosphere is investigated by an analysis of the ablation and deceleration of meteoroids as they pass through earth's atmosphere, and extrapolated onto lunar parameters. Attention is given to the effect of meteoric flux on the surface of a planet, which is considered statistically with reference to Liouville's equation. The granularity of the lunar regolith is noted, and an atmospheric density of .01 g/cu cm is derived for the period before 100 Myr.
