The approach employed in the study of the ionization equilibrium of helium is based on a use of the ionization rate coefficients reported by Lotz (1967, 1968). A modified version of an expression obtained by Landini and Monsignori Fossi (1971) is also employed. It is pointed out that the ionization rate coefficients used differ from those given by Seaton (1964). The maximum abundance of He(+) lies in the range from 0.55 to 0.70 eV. The inclusion of dielectronic recombination is found to broaden the peak for the maximum abundance of He(+).
