A mechanism of solar faculae heating is proposed; the observed dependence of faculae brightness on the strength and direction of the magnetic field not related to sunspot activity and on the photospheric velocity field is taken into account. The proposed mechanism involves interaction of the convective motion with the weak magnetic field at the photospheric level, leading to magnetic field amplification and to the diminishing of its scale to values that would result in ohmic dissipation of the magnetic field. Concomitant heating at the photospheric level would cause the correlation between faculae brightness and the velocity field. An explanation of the fine structure of faculae is also given.
