A variational method is used to calculate the S-state triton binding energy using four phase equivalent δ-function interactions of the form VLJST(r)=i(viri)δ(r-ri). An average of the 3S1 and 1S0 interactions is used with a completely symmetric S-state triton variational wave function. We find an S-state binding energy for the triton of less than 1 MeV for the two hard-core potentials and 5-6 MeV for the two soft-core potentials. Comparison with Faddeev calculations is given. NUCLEAR STRUCTURE S-state triton binding energy with phase equivalent δ-function potentials.
