Persistent Currents, Superlattices

Scientific paper

In this paper one deals with the study of total persistent currents in 1D discretized isolated rings pierced by a magnetic flux at T = 0. One starts from basic current formulae relying on suitable flux intervals of unit length. Next one resorts to Fourier series, which results in generalized current formulae proceeding for arbitrary values of the magnetic flux and of the number of electrons as well. We found that under the influence of the magnetic flux the fundamental periodicity is expressed properly by one magnetic flux quantum (two magnetic flux quanta) if the number of electrons is odd (even).
