We examine up to the fourth order normalized factorial moments of displaced single photons that are prepared by overlapping a heralded twin beam from pulsed parametric downconversion with an attenuated coherent laser beam. Due to their loss independence these moments offer expedient methods for quantum optical state characterization. We retrieve information of the photon-number content of the prepared displaced states and study the reliability of the used reconstruction method.
