The SAMPEX satellite has accumulated high quality continuous measurements of relativistic electrons for almost a decade since its launch in July 1992. SAMPEX is in a low earth polar orbit with an inclination of 82 degrees. We have used the relativistic electron fluxes measured over the Earth's polar regions to study electrons of Jovian origin. Past observations of energetic electrons at 1 AU have established that quiet time electron fluxes are of Jovian origin showing characteristic features of 13 month modulation and hard spectra. We also use IMP8 energetic electron measurements at 1 AU to establish the Jovian electron signal. Our measurements show that the Jovian electrons were observed both by SAMPEX and IMP8 from 1992 to mid-1995 when they suddenly disappeared. The signal was observed again starting early 1998. We suggest that this may possibly be due to changes of the Jovian source itself rather than changes in particle transport in the inner heliosphere.
