Near the magnetopause, flux transfer events (FTEs) are identified as bipolar perturbations in the magnetic field component perpendicular to the magnetopause. We investigate the structure of the magnetopause and characteristics of FTEs at the dayside magnetopause by using the data of Geotail in 1998-2004. The magnetopause is always moving and changing its normal direction, which is usually far from the expected direction. We study dependence of FTEs on solar wind parameters measured by ACE.
