A magnetospheric pulsation event with a period of 6 to 8 min was observed with satellite and ground based instruments in the morning sector. The GEOS 2 satellite observed a magnetosonic wave with a Poynting vector directed towards the Earth. The variations of the electric field at the satellite are almost identical to those at the northern footprint of the geomagnetic field line through the satellite. Balloon measurements of auroral X-rays and particle and VLF measurements on the satellite suggest the existence of a wave-particle interaction process.
