The Doppler-tuned ion-beam laser-resonance technique is used to observe the vibration-rotation spectrum of the helium molecular ion (He-3 He-4)(+). Nine transitions in the fundamental band have been measured with an uncertainty of 0.0006/cm or 0.3 ppm, an accuracy which exceeds that of the available theory by greater than 3 orders of magnitude. The extensive high-accuracy spectrum has application as a diagnostic for isotopic helium plasmas and possibly for the intersteller detection of He-3.
