TIMED/GUVI often detects large O/N2 depletions that extend to mid and low latitudes during weak and moderate auroral activity. Auroral particle and Joule heating as well as the background wind play major roles in redistributing the high-latitude O depleted air in the thermosphere. GUVI also detects O/N2 enhancements during periods around solstice in the winter hemisphere. We note that there are occasions when an apparent O/N2 increase appears to be correlated with an increase in TEC. We will investigate the apparent correlation between enhanced O/N2 and enhanced TEC.
