Using numerical simulations and a variety of initial conditions, the evolution of young globular clusters is studied. A tree-based N-body code contains a novel implementation of algorithmic regularization to treat close encounters between stars. The results show that young globular clusters retain memory of their initial conditions, predominantly in the form of coherent orbital motion of stars in their halos. The authour investigates the possibility of determining these initial conditions with observations of young globular clusters. Furthermore evidence of mass segregation, which is conventionally considered a consequence of long-term evolution, is found at the early stage of its evolution.
