Numerical calculations of the evolution of supernova remnants are carried out from the Sedov phase to the time when they merge with the interstellar medium. It is found that for some energies and densities the radiative cooling is so rapid that secondary shocks are produced. A criterion for this derived and used as a basis for a dynamical classification of supernova remnants. The interstellar magnetic field is included in the calculations. It is found that the magnetic field may prevent secondary shocks and also that it affects the ultimate fate of the energy of the explosion. The results also suggest that it may make some remnants oblate and some prolate in a uniform field.
