The ionospheric h'(f) records are analyzed by using the wave refractive index [mu] instead of the group refractive index [mu]'. The average virtual-height curves are the required experimental data for this method. The analysis is given for the ordinary wave by using a nonuniform lamination method, where the inversion of the triangular matrix involved is readily available. Some relatively simple approximate results are given.
