Chaos: Magnetopause
Scientific paper
Chaotic phenomena in the magnetopause boundary region are studied in the MHD framework by using the Fourier truncation method. Numerical solutions show that when the Reynolds number and the magnetic Reynolds number are very large, chaos appears in the system and its onset may provide a physical mechanism leading to turbulent reconnection at the magnetopause.
