The consequences of the exact treatment of the diffuse ionizing radiation, relative to the currently adopted on-the-spot approximation, are numerically investigated in models of dusty H II regions. It is found that the effects are important in the temperature behavior in particular of the outer zone of the nebula and therefore on the emissivities and the surface brigthness of lines coming from ions of low ionization potential.
