Since 1944, a wide range of rocket engines and propulsion systems have been develeped by the forebearers of Snecma Moteurs' Large Liquid Rocket Engine branch. Some of them are still in production today and use either "conventional storable" propellants (UDMH and nitrogen tetroxide) or "conventional cryogenic" propellants (liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen). However a significant amount of research and development has been devoted both to non- conventional propellants and propulsion systems, some of which have seen operational use. Among these, one can quote the following : All these achievements will be described and their historical development outlined in this paper.
