The nighttime thermospheric meridional winds near the magnetic equator have been derived directly from h'F data at two equatorial stations situated nearly on the same magnetic meridian, and the results are presented. The h'F is an easily scalable parameter from nighttime ionograms at equatorial latitudes. It is shown that the derived winds are consistent with earlier experimental observations.
