As the dominant mass concentration in the local Universe and the largest collection of galaxies within ~35 Mpc, the Virgo cluster has historically played a key role in studies of how galaxies evolve in dense environments. Closer to home, two of the most important Milky Way halo substructures, the Sagittarius (Sgr) stream and the Virgo Overdensity, are also in this region of sky. Building on deep CFHT/Megacam u^*g'r'i'z' imaging from the Next Generation Virgo Survey (NGVS), this proposal capitalizes on the wide field and multiplexing capabilities of MMT/Hectospec to carry out deep spectroscopic observations of the NGVS. Using 21 Hectospec pointings over two semesters, we will obtain spectra for dwarf galaxies, globular clusters, and foreground halo stars over 17 deg^2 around and between Virgo's four most massive ellipticals. The combination of Hectospec and CFHT will provide an unprecedented view of this uniquely important cluster, allowing us to: 1) Characterize the faint end of the galaxy luminosity function within the magnitude range over which current studies significantly disagree, 2) Conduct the first kinematic survey of intracluster GCs in any cluster, and constrain the mass profile and GC velocity ellipsoid in the Virgo subclusters, and 3) Determine the chemodynamical structure of the Sgr stream and Virgo Overdensity in the Milky Way halo.
