This communication relates to three test cases recently performed in the low density hypersonic Mach 10 wind tunnel R5Ch. The experimental results are compared with numerical results provided by two ONERA Navier-Stokes solvers, NASCA (2D) and FLU3M (3D), and by two NASA direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) codes, the parallel DSMC Analysis Code (DAC) and the G2 code. The three test cases relate to reentry problems. The first one is an ONERA academic model, a double cone. The second one is the Mars Pathfinder model MP1 studied at ONERA in the framework of an agreement between ONERA and NASA. The third one is the Mars Sample Return Orbiter model studied by ONERA in the framework of a contract with CNES.
