The cryogenically cooled Shuttle Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF) will be an observatory-class instrument capable of photometric, spectroscopic and polarimetric observations utilizing a variety of instruments (not all of which may be available for early missions). The key features of SIRTF are shown, and attention is given to instrument specifications, the candidate material, and the instrument pointing.
