The satellite structure observed in the solar corona and laser plasma in the narrow spectral region close to the L-alpha (Mg XII) (lambda = 8.42 A) is analyzed. Theoretical calculations carried out by means of a relativistic Z-expansion technique were used to interpret the main features of the spectra; the features are considered to be a single or group of dielectronic satellite lines caused by transitions of 2l3l' to 1s3l'' in He-like ions. Electron temperatures of the emitting volumes were derived for both the laser plasma and solar flares, and the value for solar flares is in good agreement with the temperature estimated from resonance line-to-continuum intensity ratios.
